Organ Exploration

Get an up-close view of the workings of this historic instrument and learn about the use of organ today. This one-hour course will give you a glimpse as to how your piano skills can transfer to organ and spark an early love of organ study. Learn about the keyboards, pedals, stops, and gadgets, culminating with the opportunity for all students to try the organ themselves.

Students will select a preferred date for this experience out of 3 possible dates. 

Prerequisite: Students should have a minimum of 2 years of previous experience on piano, be able to read music, and have a strong sense of rhythm. It is strongly recommended that students have prepared and bring in a Bach invention.

Organ for Pianists

Organ for Pianists

For the pianist looking to transfer their skills to the organ, this 6-week course will jump-start your organ skills. Designed for the intermediate to advanced pianist, students will learn how their current repertoire transfers to the organ, basic organ repertoire, the technical skills required, and a keen awareness of the needs of modern-day organists. Focusing on works by Bach and other composers from early to modern, students will explore the stops, use of the pedals, and the important differences in keyboard articulation. Students will part from this course with an introduction to the organ and an ability to perform simple works.  

Prerequisite: Students must have a performance-ready Bach invention, strong reading skills, and a great sense of rhythm.

Tuition and Dates: $168.00 for 6-week course
